Cookie Policy

Version: 1.0Effective Date: 19 August 2026Last Updated: 19 August 2026Applies to: prhffoundation.ca

We keep this simple: nothing non-essential runs until you say so. You can change your choices at any time with the button (also in the footer of every page).

1. What are cookies and similar technologies?

A cookie is a small text file that a website asks your browser to store and send back on later visits. Several other browser technologies do a similar job, and this policy covers all of them together:

  • Cookies — small files stored by the browser and sent back with each request to the site that set them.
  • Browser localStorage — a storage area in your browser that keeps small values on your device. Unlike a cookie, it is never transmitted to our server; only code running in your own browser can read it. This is what this site actually uses.
  • Pixels and tags — tiny images or scripts embedded in a page or an email that record that it was opened. This site uses none.
  • Session and security tokens — short-lived values some sites use to keep a form submission or a login safe. This site does not currently set any.

Where this policy says “cookies”, it means cookies and these similar storage technologies.

2. The categories we use

3. What this site actually stores

This is the complete list of storage this website sets in your browser today. It contains only what has been verified on the live site — not technologies we might adopt later.

No analytics or marketing storage is listed because none is currently installed. This table is re-checked whenever the site changes, and the last-updated date at the top of this page moves with it.

4. Geolocation and ticket purchases

When you buy a ticket, your browser asks your permission to share your location. This check confirms that you are physically located in Ontario at the moment of purchase, as the Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario (AGCO) requires of every licensed raffle.

  • It happens only during a purchase, never when you simply browse the site.
  • It is strictly necessary for the raffle to be lawful, so it is not an optional analytics or marketing feature and is not controlled by the cookie banner.
  • Only the pass/fail result is kept with the raffle record. Precise coordinates are not stored, and location is not used to profile or track you.
  • If you decline the permission, the purchase cannot be completed — but you can carry on using the rest of the site.

5. Third parties and external links

Ticket purchases, registration and membership management all happen on this website, so no third-party storefront is involved in a purchase.

This site does link to external organisations — for example the Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario (AGCO), ConnexOntario, PlaySmart, the Foundation’s corporate site and our social channels. When you follow a link and leave this website, cookies and similar technologies used by that service are governed by the privacy and cookie information provided by that service, not by this policy.

6. Processing outside Canada

The storage described in section 3 stays in your own browser and is not transmitted to us. Where an analytics or marketing technology is enabled in future and its provider processes data outside Canada, that information may be subject to the laws of the jurisdiction in which it is processed, including lawful access by courts, law enforcement and national security authorities there. Any such provider will be named in the table in section 3 before it is switched on, and it will load only after you consent. Where our other service providers process personal information outside Canada, this is explained in section 6 of the Privacy Policy.

7. Canadian privacy and anti-spam law

Personal information associated with cookies and similar technologies is collected, used and disclosed in accordance with applicable Canadian privacy legislation, including the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) where it applies. Marketing communications, and the consent required to send them, are governed by Canada’s Anti-Spam Legislation (CASL) where it applies. The detail of how we handle personal information — purposes, retention, storage location and your rights — is in the Privacy Policy.

8. Cookie settings are not the same as unsubscribing

These are two separate controls, and changing one does not change the other:

  • Cookie settings (on this page and in the footer) control analytics and advertising technologies in your browser, on this device.
  • The unsubscribe link in any marketing email or SMS controls whether we send you marketing messages at all. Turning off Marketing cookies does not unsubscribe you from the weekly jackpot email — use the unsubscribe link, or write to privacy@prhffoundation.ca. Unsubscribes are honoured within 10 business days (CASL).

9. Changing or withdrawing your consent

  1. Select Cookie settings in the footer of any page (or the button above);
  2. Tick or untick Analytics / Performance and Marketing / Advertising;
  3. Choose Save my choices. Your new choices apply immediately.

You can also block or delete cookies and clear site storage in your browser settings at any time. Doing so will clear your age confirmation and your saved cookie choices, so the site will ask you both questions again.

10. Questions and complaints

Write to privacy@prhffoundation.ca. Privacy concerns that cannot be resolved with the Foundation may be directed to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.

11. Changes to this Cookie Policy

We update this policy whenever the technologies we use, our providers or applicable requirements change — including before any new analytics or marketing technology is switched on. The effective date and last-updated date at the top of this page always show when the current text took effect.
